Remembering To Rest

I was getting ready to throw on a weighted vest. I was going to go the extra mile(s) and hike through the park for an hour.

Then I realized one of the perks of training with higher intensity is that you should take more rest days. Two or three days off per week is only going to help… especially for those of us getting up there in years (not me, of course).

My numbers are improving. My recovery between sprints is noticeably improving (I don’t feel like dying during breaks). Now I just have to let Mother Nature patch things up. I’ll come back better than I was before on Monday.

So, I skipped the exercise today, because I thought that I’d derive more benefit from resting than training. I might stretch and foam-roll later, or go for an (unweighted) walk somewhere, but mainly, I’m going to enjoy the day and rest.

Nowadays, I’m much better about remembering to rest, and not just when it comes to exercise.
