It Takes Nuance To Eat Ice Cream and Still Get In Great Shape

“I got in amazing shape while eating ice cream every day!”

“He got shredded eating PopTarts.”

Have you ever seen a post or heard a comment like that from someone in great shape–even competition shape?

I’ve seen some form of the above comments enough that I’d like to explain why they are misleading.

Important nuance has been left out.

For example, take “I got in amazing shape while eating ice cream.”

What they’re really saying is, “I got in amazing shape by using portion control, having adequate protein, balancing my diet, and was even able to have 1 cup of ice cream per day (or half a PopTart).”

Is a cup of ice cream a big deal? Maybe it’s worth shoehorning into your diet, or maybe it’s better to leave it out. That’s your call, but it’s not always an outright lie that can throw off your dieting efforts.
